We have visited Eat Sleep Live’s website many times and have even previously featured their Original Sideboard as our Product of the Week. Although shopping online is easy and can transport you to any shop in the world we are very excited to now be able to visit our favourite pieces in person! Eat Sleep Live have joined forces with several designers whose pieces all compliment their hand crafted range of furniture.

Tom Raffield’s designs have previously been featured as one of our “Products of the Week”, his beautiful carefully crafted lighting compliments Eat Sleep Live’s rustic and modern style. Similar to Eat Sleep Live, Rothschild & Bickers are passionate about what they make and are driven to ensure the processes and techniques that they use are kept within the UK’s manufacturing industry. All of their pieces are handmade to order using refined glassblowing skills. Henderson Russell design sofas and contemporary chairs, their aim is create “that little bit of heaven in your living room for that precious “me time” at the end of the day”. Fusing all of these pieces together Eat Sleep Live have covered all areas of interior design for your home.

Product of the Week – Bloom Light and Wooden Floor Stand from Tom Raffield

BLOOM_TRI_SQUARE_OAK_OFF edited

In a week of rain, hale and snow across the country we look forward to Spring with this flower inspired light from Tom Raffield. Our Product of the Week is the Bloom Light and Wooden Floor Stand.

This week the feature could have easily been called “Collection of the Week” as the Tom Raffield whole light collection are all each worthy of being our Product of the Week. To follow Tom we have also drawn our inspiration from nature and love the description of the Bloom Light being named after the opening of a flower.

Much like their Collection the Tom Raffield page connects with their visitors and beautifully describes each piece. “The Bloom Light utilises petals of bent wood arranged into a symmetrical shape around the central bulb. It has a sweep and flow that make it a statement piece. The large petals are made of high quality wood and mask much of the bulb, whilst also cutting through the light to create soft shadows and a warm glow.”

Once you have somehow narrowed down your favourite Light you then must choose your finish from the sustainably sourced ash, oak or walnut, or a combination of oak and walnut.

With nature running through his veins Tom grew up in Exmoor. Where better place to be inspired than when surrounded by extreme wilderness, tranquility and natural beauty. This is the environment that stimulated Tom’s imagination and inspired his motto for his work “Adventurous design and quality craftsmanship”.

We asked Tom to tell us his story from the beginning, “My fascination with the traditional practice of steam bending began whilst studying at Falmouth College of Arts. I discovered that the traditional technique of using a chamber wouldn’t allow him to create the complex 3D bends he had envisaged. Years of research and experimentation allowed me to develop a new steaming method to turn my design visions into reality.”

Tom was co-founder of the award-winning collective design company Sixixis, recognised for unique aesthetic, forward-thinking designs and now, through his own company, Tom continues to create spectacular, ecologically sound, innovative furniture and lighting.

Handcrafted in his studios in Cornwall, England, the range of contemporary lighting and furniture Tom now creates is based on beauty, integrity and a desire to create unique, high-specification products that will be cherished by their owners.
